David Duckworth created web site

Greetings -hopefully there are a few tech heads out there who can help me out. Two years ago, Jayne and I gave David Duckworth £750 or thereabouts to create a lead generation web site. As you all know, it ended in tears. I declined the offer of his indian outsourcer to put it all back for me. It was built (or hosted?) with a cpanel interface, and before it went to digtal heaven, I took a backup.

I found it last week, perservered and managed to open the files and see the html. I lasi went to low cost names and saw that my old domain was now available again, and so I bought it back (for the princely sum of £6 +vat.

I downloaded a free HTML editor from coffeecup.com, played about this afternoon (raining in Wales) and put it up on to free server space wih coffeecup. Pointed my domain at it (http://www.quickhouseseller.co.uk) and it works.

Apart from one thing - there are some .php files that get called when a customer inputs their postcode; that appears to generate a standard web capture form - again a .php. I can't get them to work - is it as simple as a script won't run on free space or is it more complicated?

Be good if I could get it all working - I would feel a minor victory over the forces of the defunct gurus!

RE: David Duckworth created web site

The php server is probably in a different location on this server.

Look at the script, the 2nd line will probably be the location of PHP on your old server. Ask your new host where theirs is (it may be a newer version) and amend the script.

FWIW it's piddling down in SW Wales too (and I have to put the bins out later Sad

Thanks for the prompt response. Amazingly, the web host (coffee cup)_ has answered my support question in lighting speed as well - they don't allow php on their servers so thats why it wont work.

Do you know any cheap space where it would work?

Coffeecup have suggested that I create a new form and have given me a form creator with which to do it

Pretty much every hosting company allows php - I use http://www.34sp.com. Superb service, great support and reasonably priced. All support is UK based too.

Adding to Simons post - I use http://www.asmallorange.com.

They are in the states but have lightning fast support 24/7 and their packages are very reasonable.[/b]
