Essential information for all Landlords and home owners! Free Boiler Replacement

Hi, I'm new to the site but I'd like to inform all landlords and homeowners about a new government backed scheme to replace boilers for free!

In short, if you or your tenants are in receipt of Child Tax Credits or State Pension Credits and have an old non-condensing gas boiler in the property, they will qualify for a new Vaillant Ecotec Pro 28 boiler. If there is no central heating in the property, they will be able to get 6 radiators too.

The scheme also applies to people on other types of benefits too such as Working Tax Credits, Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance and Income Support - subject to further qualifying criteria being met.

The scheme is called the 'Affordable Warmth Scheme' and is backed by money from E-on; much the same as the loft and cavity funding.

If you are interested in the scheme or want more information please contact me through the messaging system here or post a comment.

We cover most of the country and if its an area we don't cover we have strong links with several companies around the UK who will be able to do the work for free.

Please re-post this on you Facebook, Twitter or Linked-in accounts!

One of tenants boyfriends does this and rung me the other day.

Already kicked one off. Gave him a list of other possibles.

Wish they'd done this years ago. Nearly all our properties have had new boilers installed in intial refurb or replaced the last few years.

We have already started the ball rolling on this with our properties. I'd just like to back up that this sort of offering is genuine, especially as the poll at the top of this thread suggests more are sceptical whether it's genuine than not.

Don't miss out on free boilers for your properties, landlords! I believe you can also get further details from the NLA.

The funding for such schemes, which by the way abound via multiple suppliers throughout the UK, comes from a fund that the government forced the six biggest utility companies to pay into and is delivered to qualifying households, including our tenants who are on benefits and tick various right boxes, which vary from one provider to another in detail.

This is a sub-section of the Green Deal funding, which is known as the Eco fund but unlike the Green Deal, is absolutely free - the Green Deal alternative being effectively a loan upon the property which has to be paid for, with an interest rate around 7%. The debt stays with the house, even if you're selling.

Eco funding can supply your properties (if they and the tenants are eligible) with more than just free new boilers, but insulation etc too. I have an old Victorian house in the Wirral that has solid walls, where the house will be getting the walls treated with a special type of insulation inside and out that's designed to insulate and help to prevent damp, which is fantastic as the tenant has complained of damp and I was previously told there's not much we could do about it given the solid walls!

Having said that, I went to an event last week locally, where a company supplying such funding is working in our area but only for now targeting houses with solid walls, which we don't have locally. These companies it seems reserve the right to target only such properties as they choose sometimes and some prefer to go door knocking to those properties they choose (which is what happened with mine in the Wirral) rather than be approached by us initially... I'm not saying it's always the case, but sometimes. There is quite some variation.
