Hi all!
I have been given some information by a friend regarding an empty/dishevled property in my local area! My hunch upon hearing this info is the property will shortly come up for sale and im quite sure a quick sale would be preferred. Anyway i have done a bit of digging and found the full address and i am going to run a land registry check to see who actually owns the property. My question is, the check will give me the name/s but no contact details. Has anyone been in this situation and managed to track down current addresses/telephone numbers etc in order to start dialogue? It doesnt look like anyone goes to the property often so dropping a leaflet through the door probably wont work, although i'll try anyway! As always any help would be much appreciated! Dan |

Consider hiring a professional to trace the owner.

Worth running a land reg search anyway, I've seen some with loads of info, email addresses, overseas addresses etc.
Also, why not give the neighbours a knock, let's face it, it the house is disused they're likely to be more than happy to see it get renovated and moved on. |

If you can't find the owner then there's the option of using adverse possession (unless the info you've been given leads you to believe that the owner is still interested in the property - as your hunch suggests). Peter Hogan is the big cheese in this area and has been doing the rounds of the property meets lately, and also had an article in YPN about three months ago. His website is at http://www.peterhogan.co.uk.

Contact the "Empty Homes Officer" at the local council. They keep a register of all empty properties. They will not give you owners details but will pass on any letters, their job is to get property in use again so happy to work with potential buyers.
Also as above knock on neighbors doors its amazing what info you can get. Save Money on All of Your Utilities Attract Prospects to Your MLM Business Follow |

Thanks for all the replies guys! Think the next course of action is a leaflet through the door and get in touch with the local council!
As always, helpful info! |

Daniel,
I would suggest you try multiple paths at the same time. No telling when someone will pop up or what is the best way to find someone. John Corey
