Is it OK to give a little plug to our National Landlord Day 6 November?

We're newish on here and not sure of the form as to whether this is OK?

We have the new Scottish Housing Minister coming to address conference in under two weeks time, on Tuesday 6 November in Edinburgh. Watching the topics discussed on this forum, it seems timely to let people know about this opportunity to come and hear from, plus question her about the concerns of the sector here in Scotland.

Vanessa would you care to attend as our guest to represent Property Tribes and maybe live blog from the event? We will be doing this via Twitter and Facebook too...

The people in power need to hear from the people affected by, and paying for the legislation. Add your voice and make SAL stronger than ever.

National Landlord Day is the main annual focus for the trade in Scotland with the largest trade exhibition presented in the country. Bookings for the event are on 0131 564 0100. there are a few places left but it's a sell out every year so book now if you'd like to come.

The event has all the essential Scottish info from speakers as below:

Scotland's new Housing Minister Margaret Burgess MSP introduces herself to Scotland's landlords & letting agents and outlines a new Private Rented Sector strategy

TC Young solicitors Andrew Cowan on new and planned legislation such as tenancy fees and tenant info packs

Frances Murphy from the Scottish Government - what the new Property Factors Act can do for you with communal repairs problems

Dan Cookson from Citylets on the outlook for the Scottish lettings market

SafeDeposits Scotland - the Tenancy Deposit Scheme disputes process - all the facts and info including the tricky topic of assessing "fair wear and tear"

Graham Mowat, Dept. for Work and Pensions - Welfare Reform and the planned new Universal Credit. Whether you let to benefits tenants or not these changes will have a huge impact on the market

Sustainability of the Green Deal and ECO - can new energy efficiency initiatives really provide benefits to tenants and landlords?

and much much more.

Thank you!
Scottish Association of Landlords

This sounds like a really useful event for anyone involved in the Scottish property industry.

Thank you for your kind invitation for me to attend. I will contact you privately to respond to that.

It would be great too if you could let your Scottish Landlords know about this Scottish Property Tribe. Smile

We are currently in Scotland meeting with Scottish property professionals and most of them have said that they feel somewhat left out and that most things are very "English-orientated".

Between us, we can bring Scottish landlords into the wider community, so we look forwards to working with you to achieve that.

Hi Vanessa

Great to hear there's so much interest from Scottish professionals and that you're having a week for this important part of the overall UK market (Scotland is approx 10% of the UK market).

The Scottish Association of Landlords and Landlord Accreditation Scotland provide a wide variety of Scottish orientated events, training, resources and services and there are always more planned - please do feel free to pass our details on to the professionals who are not aware of these so they can get involved at "home" here in Scotland as well as via southern based organisations.

Our next big event is a brand new half day letting agent conference in Glasgow on 6 December and we'd be delighted to invite you to join us that day, as our guest.

With the laws around letting being so different in Scotland to England, that's why we focus only on the Scottish lettings trade, both from a landlord and letting agent perspective.

We have a partnership agreement with the RLA, Residential Landlords Association for the benefit of our members who also let in England & Wales. This also allows RLA members who let in Scotland as well as south of the border, to access our Scottish resources too. We also jointly campaign with the RLA on matters which are not devolved to the Scottish Parliament. One important example of this is welfare and benefits.

Scottish Association of Landlords.

Thank you for that.

It would be great if you could share some insights about what was discussed on Scottish Landlords Day in Edinburgh yesterday.

Is there a blog of the event or anything else about the content shared?

What did people see as the main concerns and challenges facing the Scottish PRS?

Related discussion: Property Tribes joins forces with NALS to focus on the Scottish PRS.
