Aki showed my the site today. WOW! The functionality for now, and for the future when Universal Credit begins, is fantastic. This site will help tenants to calculate what they can afford, make it easy for them to search for a property within that criteria and very easy to ask for a viewing. Aki has thought of everything and has talked to all the most knowledgable LHA landlords I know. He has done the research on search engine traffic, he has paid attention to the minutiae. This site is going to make a major contribution to the benefits market and I really wish them every success. So proud it was born on my patch.

Mary

Thanks for your kind words, that's why l wanted you to be one of the first to see the near finished site as l knew you would get the concept and share my passion for it. l think the site will be fantastic for tenants as it will find the void in helping them to rent in the PRS when this alot of the times will be the only option available with RSL's simply not having the stock to provide housing to everyone on benefits. I spoke to one ALMO this year that has 25,000 homes and they currently turn away 80% of all the enquiries (point them in the direction of the PRS) as they get as they cannot meet demand.

Once again thanks for your support.

Aki

You are very welcome Aki, the site will be great on many levels not least the fact that tenants will no longer need to ask dozens of landlords "Do you take DSS?" Only to hear the words that they dread. I hope that landlords who do take these tenants will advertise their property with you but also that they will spread the word among tenants.

I hope that you have told Shelter and Crisis about the site?

Great to hear you're just two weeks away Aki. Looking forward to seeing the new site myself. I shared the same thoughts about the name but agree I still get lots of calls 'do you accept DSS?'.

Might be worth speaking with the companies that allow you to list on Rightmove for £20 (polar, open rent, upad) to get the exposure upped.

Good luck.

Phil

RE: Property web portal exclusively for housing benefit claimants to go live in Sept.

Mary, it's on my to do list to go and meet with Shelter et al about the site, like we discussed yesterday the possibilities are endless and l'm only just starting the long journey in bringing the site to market now ! Someonhow need to find a way of making the day longer and not sleeping would help also, privileged to get 5 or 6 hours these days.

Thanks Phil Wheeler for being a great contact, that coffee we had in Pret was brilliant for me. I am really grateful that through yourself l met other great and well respect LHA agents Richard Jones and John Paul. I will be speaking to all the online agents. In respect of the name the trem DSS was just too strong to leave out following on from the SEO research undertaken. I get 100's of calls every week asking do we take DSS ? do we accept housing benefit ? The term DSS has l've seen stick with this type of tenant over 20+ years regardless to what has happened to the benefits system and government bodies responsible for administering, we've seen DHSS, DSS, DWP, LHA, HMRC, Housing Benefit etc....the list goes on. However DSS has been the one that stuck !! My SEO guys and marketing bod's told me to consider Carphone Warehouse, how many carphones do they actually sell now ? None !

Launch is scheduled for early September, if you're in Wolverhampton give me a ring and come over for a cheeky pre-launch peek !

I'm glad it was helpful Aki. Yes should be in Wolves in a couple of weeks so if you're not already live I would appreciate a peek especially as Miss Latham has beaten me to it!

Phil I may have beaten you to a preview but Aki was all praise for you, John and Richard because of all the generous help and advice that you gave him. When Aki told me that he had been speaking to you guys and I KNEW the site was going to be spot on and it is. Well done all of you for supporting this great venture
