    Advice needed - Deposit became unprotected

    Yes if you don't extend deposit protection it becomes unprotected  after 30 days.

    I didn't think you had to re-protect the deposit when you went periodic in a tenancy.

    Ive never done this. I'm with the DPS. I've just logged online and all the deposits are still there.

    Think paul may be referring to insurance deposit schemes (where landlord holds onto money, fees to be paid - daft IMHO) rather than custodial schemes where deposit scheme hold money, no fees to pay.

    Yes that is correct

    I only refer to what mydeposits requires

    Other  schemes seem to have their own foibles

    LL  need to ascertain  what ones their chosen scheme has.

    Personally  I never use anything other than an insurance  scheme.

    I would never dream of allowing anyone but myself to hold deposit monies.

    I have heard that there are millions of pounds being held by custodial schemes because tenants have failed to respond to allow the deposit to be released.

    I choose to be in total control

    Paying £26 for such control is more than worth it!
