Good points EssexLL
enjoy the fruits of your labours while you can, you have worked hard for them
It seems for some people they are unable to enjoy this. No point in being the richest landlord in the cemetary
"No point being the richest LL in the graveyard"?
Depends really. Who says that spending money on luxury items makes people happy? I see these billionaire programs on TV and they look pretty stressed and miserable. I've seen "Can't pay, we'll take it away" as well and they seem pretty stressed and miserable. Both ends of the £ spectrum.
The lifestyle of not (as JL would say it) "scraping the ice off the car" is one that I am very happy not to be involved in!
I had a reminder of how crap the rat-run is this Monday. Took me 1.5 hrs to do a trip that at 11am would take me 45 mins.
One persons lifestyle is never quite the same as anothers.
Money is just a token to allow it to happen.
First resi property I sold I could have bought a brand new Merc S-class at the time, but put it into another property instead. Could have indulged, but decided not to.
I was probably running around in a £1k car at the time. I've just bought one this week for less than £1200. It cost the original owner £25k 9 years ago. Did a deal and if it lasts me 2 years then great!I could have bought one for £12k that may only last me 2 years.
Doing deals is often more fun than the £ that can come from it if you're not depending on that £ to put food on the table.
TBH I don't care if I'm the richest, the poorest, or somewhere in between in the graveyard!
We each have different aims and strategies in property.
We each have different experiences and risk appetites
Thank goodness we CAN read different opinions here on PT. I for one do not wish to have my thoughts policed.
DL and all; it's good to be a part of this community
Whenever I browse on PropertyTribes, I always take a close read of anything written by a DL. I have now had a lot of diverse experience myself, but always pick up new thoughts, information or angles from DL. Thanks for all your posts and comments DL!
