Hello - ideas for getting started with £50K?

Philip, strategy is fine just manage you expectation on time. Personally i would get a 2 or 3 year fixed rate mortgage and pull the money back out at tge end of the fixed term.
Much better chance of a reasonable market valuation when house is tenanted and has completed the initial mortgage term than revalue after only 6 months

What about council tax gas/water/electric/insurance or is that in with 6k? If doing remortgage, they will always value it10-15% lower than probably what you could sell it for they want you to have skin in game simple

All of the advice you've had above are valid and I can add a few more. But the poignant one I will add is that whatever you do, DO NOT fall prey to paying for expensive and largely over hyped property investment courses, Mentorship or training with ANY of the self-appointed property gurus out there. If you don't yet know who they are, you soon will. They'll find you. Good luck.

    Hi Philip,

Welcome to Property Tribes, it's wonderful to hear that you find this site useful and informative! When you say you would like to move back to the UK, would you like to move back to Brentwood/Essex or would you like to move closer to one of the places you would like to invest?

As Vanessa has said you would probably be able to buy something for around £150k. Even if not there are still definitely properties to invest in with your money. Everyone has made some really helpful starting pointers and they are all wonderful and helpful.

I would also say have you considered what your main goal is? Yield/ROI or capital appreciation?
