I just saved over £700.00 per annum in 5 mins

I just wanted to share something that I think will be of value to the PT community.

I just signed up for LookAfterMyBills, a free service that automatically transfers you to the cheapest energy provider. The utilities bill on my own home has reduced from £250.00 per month to £192.00 and I was able to choose a Green Energy supplier.

I will be saving over £700.00 per year on gas and electricity.

When your contract expires, the system automatically reviews the offers available and transfers you to the most competitive supplier.  If you are not contracted, it makes an annual check and automatically switches you to a cheaper tariff if it finds one.

If you sign up using my link I get £20.00 and you get £20.00!

Takes less than five minutes and it will save you money month on month in perpetuity. Smile

Once registered, you can add multiple properties, so great for HMO owners and holiday let & SA owners, or anyone who rents out property where bills are included in the rent.

Thank you in advance if you use my link and any payments I get I will be dedicating to the many animal charities that I support.

This is great and will save so much time, I will follow the link!

There was a product a year or two ago called the Labrador but I think it was a plug in device of some kind.

I have just switched seven properties and it has probably been a day's work (and still not finished!).

Fantastic. Thank you for using my link. Smile

This is a bit of a no-brainer as far as I am concerned.  What is not to love about automatically saving money?!  This website did very well on "Dragon's Den" - they loved it as well.

Is it common for Landlords to have utility bills included in the rent as I would imagine it’s a recipe for wastage of resources as the temptation to leave heating /lighting on at times it’s not needed would be higher if it’s included . I’ll certainly be passing the link on to my tenants though .

    Very kind.

Why not do it for your own home though?  Takes five minutes and I saved over £50.00 per month.  Every penny helps, as Tesco like to say!

Yes, HMO's and holiday lets have all utilities included in the rent, as does serviced accommodation. Smile

We have a number of discussions on here about how to stop tenants over-using utilities when they are included in the rent.

Thank you very much for sharing this Vanessa. Looks like an excellent resource that will save both time and money hunting for the best energy deals!

I've tried signing up for multiple properties but I've got them linked to the same email - it appears that you can only apply once per email? How have others got around this?

Thanks for sharing Vanessa. I remember seeing them on dragon’s den. I thought then do they make their money from the suppliers commission and if so, will they not be open to using specific suppliers who give them a bigger cut in return for the business?

You can find the answer on their website....

    How is this service free?

We keep the service free for you by taking a commission from the energy companies that we switch you to. Unlike price comparison sites this is the same amount whichever the energy company and we only switch you to companies we trust who have good customer service.

There are companies who want to pay us but we won’t switch you to. If they don’t provide good customer service then it’s not worth a few extra pounds to switch you to them. That’s how we keep the service free for you.

" will they not be open to using specific suppliers who give them a bigger cut in return for the business?"

Most likely, but does it matter if they are saving you money?

Yes it does as cheap doesn’t necessarily mean the best!
