Would anyone know of any mentorship or courses, i can do based on commerical property investing? In the market there is a lot on residential but not really much on commerical
Want to make sure I get the correct knowledge before starting.
Perhaps this as a grounding in the first instance:
The normal route is an Estate Management course you will need to familiarise yourself with the methods of valuing the different types of commercial property ie office.shops ,industrial and leisure ,planning .legal some basic building construction knowledge .development and legal framework rating etc ,environmental economics ,some basic company accounts understanding all those factors which affect value
Sounds a very good route also.
Have you got any links to a good Estate Management course for the original poster?
I have undertaken this qualification and would say that it gives a very good grounding in commercial property from an agent perspective in terms of rules and regulations as well as valuation techniques and commercial leases.
From an investor perspective this provides a good starting point which you can then build on with other more investment focused courses.
The learning material costs around £350 and come as a very thick binder or is available online both from Manchester College.
Hi, I’ve watched a webinar from Paul Smith and Dan Taylor on this very subject. Paul has set up an education company called Touchstone Education, so perhaps making contact with them might help. Apparently they have what’s called ‘The Commercial Club’.
Hope this helps.
It might be worth asking Paul Smith about his commercial to residential conversion project at Denison House Doncaster........
Also worth noting that Dan Taylor is no longer in partnership with Paul Smith. I believe that Dan Taylor was the one who had actual commercial experience.

Thanks for your comment Vanessa.
I had an inkling that this was the case, therefore I’d like to amend my original statement to say that Dan Taylor is perhaps the person to contact. I know he has a Facebook page which is called ‘The Commercial Club’.
Ranjan Bhattacharya of the Baker Street Property Meet does a one day course for those looking to get started in commercial property investment.I’ve done this course myself and I enjoyed it and found it very informative. I believe the next one being held is in September. Google “The Baker Street Property Meet” and look for their workshops to find out more information.
Hi Sophie,I would be interested to know how you moved your business forwards as a result of taking RB's course?
