MP taxation Disclosure | JC Vs May

    https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/j...n-11954602

    Mr  J.Corbyn

The return sent to HM Revenue and Customs shows Mr Corbyn earned £136,762 in the 2016/17 tax year, including from two pensions, and paid £48,079.80 in income tax.

His office said he has no stocks or shares, benefits from no trust funds and did not receive any income from property.

Despite earning an MP's salary for 35 years, he appears to have almost no savings - earning just £6 of interest on them in the whole year.

     MRS  T. May

Mrs May paid £40,023 in income tax in 2014/15. She earned £112,426 as an MP and Home Secretary and a further £6,036 in interest and dividends.

    coutts numbers for early years.

Wisdom involves an integration of knowledge, experience, and deep understanding that incorporates tolerance for the uncertainties of life as well as its ups and downs.

So Mrs May runs the country on £72,400 a year which is £6,355 a month or £1392 a week

    she must be Mad ???

I know the pension is good But its very poor pay for such a resonsablity  in my opinion

She doesn't  do the   PM role for the money

People often do things which don`t  focus on money as the motive or end goal

She has a passion to change peoples worlds  - just like teachers nurses vicars etc

But in this case its a passion which also  has its financial rewards separate to the wage slip

The perks she gets associated with her job  far exceed her basic salary

The real money of course is to be made after she leaves office

After dinner speeches  directorships and the like

And firm was named in paradise papers. - tax avoidance schemes. See last link.

I agree you would expect the PM to be paid more for about 2 seconds.....but then I change my mind. Lol

But when you leave PM job well then you can make lots of moolah giving speeches.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/people...15496.html

    And it's not theoretical either.

Just find it interesting that public scrutiny of tax returns is even possible.may Vs corbyn. They both give lots to charity which I applaud.

I tend to think we are all human and have bias in some form or other and our experiences and circumstances shape our thinking and therefore policy. Actions and Inactions.

When it comes to paying tax, there is one rule for the super-rich and another for the rest of us and, in refusing to act, the Prime Minister appears to condone this,” said Trickett.

A comedian said when the Queen wants more money she should just photocopy her face. ROFL.

As JC alludes, the real money is to be made after you are fired.

Make sure you support the right corporate interests/dodgy foreign governments and your thank you will come in the form of consulting work, opportunities for investments and of course the speech circuit.

It's just bribery really but they pay it forward so tough to catch.

Don't concern your yourself with individual  income it means nothing in the overall scheme of the things.

The only money worth talking about are the billions that are evaded by corporates.

The UK needs to follow Trump and reduce corporate taxation to the point it makes trying to evade such relevant taxation as pointless. As is happening g in the US already large corporates are coming home and so effectively corporate taxes will be increasing

The less tax you charge the more tax you will bring in from more economic  activity as it becomes worth doing..

Something stupid socialists fail to understand

The way realistic socialism works is to encourage everyone to make as much money as they can and then fairly tax them but still with controls as unbridled capitalism is not good for society as a whole.

    Nobody objects to such.

Then society as whole is a winner.

Personal envy is what drives the hatred of many for LL as they see that such LL could be them if only they had made different  life choices.

This feeds resentment of those who have succeeded.

Everyone loves to hate a LL

It is effectively  condoned by society at large.

Only when LL  become large corporates does the resentment leach away.

I never hear Shelter railing against the evil corporate LL  Grainger. .....................funny that!!??

Wonder how much corporate  taxation Grainger paid compared to the same no of LL making similar  turnover presupposing that such LL  were subject to S24!!??

Who's followwing who? Trump cut corporate tax to 21%. In the UK it is 19% and due to drop to 17%.
