    NPD/Metis/Fortem Global - hotel rooms

    Hi all

I am looking for some general advice please. Any help is massively appreciated.

Back in 2015 I invested in a hotel room with NPD/Metis/Fortem Global. I was paid the promised repayment, albeit late last year. I received a call option earlier this year, and the call option was due to complete and pay out on the last day of June (with a recent email extending this to late July).

All seemed relatively fine, until I emailed NPD and got a reply saying the company has been taken into receivership.

My question is, have I lost my investment?

I have the 'Official copy of register of title' in my name. The name of the hotel is different (it was originally going to be rebranded with a new name, but appears to have kept the original name until today), but the address is correct.

Feeling pretty concerned but wondering if I have more recourse due to holding a leasehold?

    Thanks in advance,
    Boris

Sorry to hear about your plight.  There are recent articles online concerning NPD and in particular the Moorland Hotel.

The hotel is currently owned by Brian Meaden, the father of BBC Dragon's Den panelist Deborah Meaden.

He says that he “formally withdrew from negotiations some time ago”.  Creditors have taken three of Gavin Woodhouse's firms to court to recover their investments.  It appears that the funds have disappeared and investors have lost out.

However, Gavin Woodhouse strenuously denies any wrongdoing and says investors funds are in bank accounts. And a spokesman for NPD said: “We remain in discussions with the owners of the Foxglove Hotel and, despite the recent setbacks and media campaign against us, we’re still hopeful of a purchase”.

The Foxglove Hotel is visually the same as The Moorlands Hotel.  NPD have removed the page from their website but you can find a 'cached' version here: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s...clnk&gl=uk

Wishing you every success with recovering whatever you can - assuming that this was the hotel in question.

    Hi Boris,

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. There are lots of information about this scam on ITV and in the Guardian.

Do you have any leaflet/documentation/email correspondence letter etc in your possession from Fortem Global? Or anything signed by Robin Forster?

Sorry to hear of your plight.

You should contact the Official Receiver to find out what is going on, and/or better still, visit the hotel in person to get a clearer picture.
