Property to Appear on Homes Under the Hammer

    Hi Everyone,

I just sold a property today at auction. When the auctioneer phoned me, he said that Homes Under the Hammer were at the auction and that the property had been chosen as one to appear on the programme!!

I'll be very intrigued to see what the buyers make of it... and potentially embarrassed by what an opportunity I didn't spot there!?

The auctioneer was rather non-committal when I tried to ask if he could let me know when it would be on TV. He just said: "They normally come back to do the after filming around six months later". Then when asked, said: "It would normally be on TV within about a month after that."

It'll be quite a mission to look out for it. I'm not sure how I'll do that, as I do watch the programme from time to time but daily is too much!!

Any suggestions?? Or raving fans of the programme who could help to look out for it?!

The address is at Greengate East, Manchester, M40 0JL.

    Thanks,

    Angela

    Thanks Priscilla!

The address is Greengate East [that's the road name], Manchester, M40 0JL. I'm not actually sure what the area name is! I've been told it's just outside of Moston.

    Thanks,

If you can track down the production company they may tell you when it will roughly b then you can touch base again for a better idea. Maybe if they know just who you are they will give you an appearance as the vendor! Smile

If you do a series link then you only need to watch the first couple of minutes as they always do a bit about each of the three properties that will feature at the begining of the show.

You could try writing to the new owner (either at the house or, if that fails, by looking up their contact details on Land Reg in about 3 months' time) and ask them to let you know.

Unless of course there's some reason that you don't want the new owner to be able to get hold of you! Wink

    Thanks for the replies.

I just tried googling series link as I didn't know what that is! I'm still not clear whether our tv or Freeview arrangement would be capable of setting it up. Or is it only available via Sky or other paid subscriptions?

Failing that, I may take up your suggestion Omario... but not sure about appearing in the programme! It seems very 'formularised' so I'm not sure they'd want the vendor anyway!

Lynne, I don't have any reason not to want the vendor to know me:-) Actually I'd like to know who bought it, as some guy got hold of my email address before the auction and wrote to make me a private offer, which he later increased but I said I'll go through auction.... and it did sell for more!

Works on just Freeview, but you need a digital video recorder (aka PVR - the P is for personal, though I'm not quite sure what's personal about it!), which will usually have a series record function. Ours is a Humax and the way it works is:
    1. Go into Guide and highlight the required programme
    2. Press OK; if the programme is one of a series then it asks you if you want to record the whole series or just that episode.
(Doesn't work if the programme has already started; all it does then is to switch to that channel.)

I think Sky, Virgin etc. offer digiboxes that do a similar job.

Thanks Lynne, that's fantastic - the wonders of technology!

Thanks for taking the time to explain it.
