    Graham and his company is great as a source of information and alternative investments however I agree with dislexic_landlord in that being a Northen Landlord will have different implications to being a landlord in the south. Whatever happens in the south doesn't necessarily affect those in the north. As a new northern landlord myself BTL looks like a great investment going forward.

    Graham sells alternative investments and so of course part of his marketing strategy will be to point out all the negatives of the alternative. I always try to find the motives behind a speaker because there is always a motive.

    As for rental controls, the rents down south look extremely high to me compared to those in the north therefore its reasonable to think that any rental controls that did come into effect would affect those down south more (just like housing crashes affect southern properties more).

    I was thinking exactly this when he was speaking. I wonder how much money he made from BTL before he decided it wasn't for him? Did it set him up in his current role I wonder?
