Removal of last 20% of MIR likely/possible?

I hope this never happens. But what if the Government scrap this? Were doomed if this becomes law. Thoughts?

(*Moderator note:  Title changed to better reflect topic.  MIR = Mortgage Interest Relief*).

If you mean the use of S24 further I believe it will go

I personally can think of no reason why the govt won’t do it

The only safe way In BTL is not to borrow

This  of course would be impossible for most Landlords

Our sector is built on debt which in the past worked

if the government removes its assistance you have a very poor investment if you borrow

It could well go.   More landlords leave, less choice, higher rents, no social housing, LHA rates go through the roof to allow housing tenants any chance of a property, incentives to invest in property, more enter the sector, house prices rise, those still in the game have massive yields on prices paid.

Too much BTL, disincentives...repeat, repeat repeat.

No long term view with joined up thinking.

With this shower of S*** anything is possible, they're the best Labour Government for decades.

    You are right

I always thought the Conservatives were the party for entrepreneurs

They have taken the ground Labour used to sit in

They have stabbed every small business in the back

They will not win the next election unless they come back to the right

Labour coming to Power will be worse

Sorry chaps, the headline was meant to say - "What if the government scrap the remaining 20% mortgage interest relief on BTL"?
