Scottish PRS heading towards Rent Controls

I think we are political pawns

We have flack for such a lot and we are blamed for such a lot which is wrong in the UK housing market

In general our opinion counts for little so we will face more hurdles

We see in PT the number of new Landlords who want to join the game

If the PRS expands the more the Govt will regulate it and Rent Control will be part of regulation

Only when BTL stops growing will the pain of change stop

If what I read here I can't see that happening ...

There's an interesting Freakonomics podcast on rent controls.  Definitely worth a listen.

Not wanting to spoil it, but rent controls will likely produce side effects. They might not even help with affordability overall.

    Hi there

Not the view from investors actually up here in Scotland.

Although there are provisions for rent control zones, the most likely areas would be small parts of Edinburgh or Glasgow.

According to Scottish government website, there are currently NO rent pressure zones in Scotland and none are in the pipeline.

    Regards

    Ed

Also the law allows for rent rises to be limited to CPI+1%. That would not be a problem for me.
