    House prices in London see their biggest decline since 2009 - but prices in Blackburn rise by 16.4%

    • Prices in London fell by over 2.6% in the last year, the biggest fall since 2009 
    • In the North West of England, price have seen annual increases of 4.6%
    • In Blackburn , the average cost of a home has risen by 16.4% in the last year

    We buy in  the North west -  Blackburn, Darwen, Colne, Accrington, Oswaldtwistle & around the edges of Burnley & Preston. We keep an eye on Blackpool but dont buy there, at some, point we might, but there arent the positive signs we look for there yet. we have also just bought our first couple in Lytham, really impressed too, Its a lovely place.

    Just hazarding a guess from your name, you are more Manchester focussed?

    I'm just taking some joy from North prices increasing, but probably not in my area as I was born unlucky.

    Would you believe it my father moved from London up north  just before I was being born - what a mistake that was. Moving up north , not having me!!

    Instead of buying £1000 house he opted for cheaper housing.  Wish I had a time machine.

    Born in recession year. So I can't blame his decisions.

    Your father lived in the now

    He made the right choices at the time.

    Hindsight cannot be used to manage a domestic situation.

    He made the right choice for his family.

    Just the luck of the draw if your property increases in value.

    If major industry  hadn't been shut down for all this Green crap then the North would still be doing OK.

    Hopefully fracking might revitalise the North a bit

    I know if I had my way I would reopen the coal mines and build lots of coal powered power stations.

    We stupidly  have buried 300 years of coal supplies!!

    At least Trump is doing the right thing and starting the US coal industry again.

    Property prices in the North grew at a faster pace than those in the South for the fourth consecutive quarter last month.

    Values in the North are now growing at their fastest pace since 2014, while Southern regions are experiencing a 'deceleration' in prices, with growth stalling to low levels not seen since 2012.

    Rightmove report.

    The property listing website said that buyers hunting limited houses for sale in the North have made it a sellers' market - encouraging people to raise prices - whereas more homes are coming onto a softer market in the South.

    My own feeling is If you were investing in the North you should have been doing it 5 years ago

    I did some fanatic deals from 2008 till 2015

    Remember the words of wisdom when you see the Boom you have missed the opportunity

    The North is good If you understand the areas and the issues the north has

    and don't forget when the SE gets a cold the North gets the flu
