    Up/Down-voting posts

I'm maybe being thick here, but is it possible to see who has up- or down-voted a post?

Without wanting to be too precious, I find it a bit annoying when people down vote a comment without adding a reason why - it seems rather unproductive and leaves me (and maybe others) wondering why.  I don't mind someone disagreeing or proving me wrong, but if that's the case surely it's best to air it so everyone to benefit from the correct/alternative view.

Perhaps I'm inconsistent in my thinking though, as I don't feel the need for anyone to explain why they're upvoting my posts.... :-)

I have liked your post. Smile

To be honest, I don't notice the voting on PT.  However, it is considered by the alogrithm that determines what is a trending topic.

I am much more aware of the "like" on Facebook and I often look to see who has "liked" a post , many times feeling surprised at who is liking who!!

I agree that it would be better to just "like" something.  We will discuss this with the developers.

Are you saying the 'one click' ability to express disapproval or disagreement with a post would be removed, and only the option to approve would remain? Sounds a bit snowflakey to me.

Yes, I'm not adverse to down-voting - if  a post can only be liked it could give a skewed impression of what people think.  It's more that I just want to know who is doing the voting.  Plus, removing anonymity might encourage greater accountability in up/down voting, although it doesn't seem a highly used feature.  I suspect I'm starting to appear bitter about receiving down votes (which I'm not!).

There are so many posts on here that I adore and would love to be able to express this. I do upvote avidly for this reason. I saw your down vote which I considered ridiculous given the wealth of considerate and helpful, practical information you had provided. I up voted it to balance it out! Smile

I have just up voted your above post for same reason.  Hmmm...
