  • Surrey Property Exchange

Our September event will be a standout occasion because it offers an afternoon workshop, followed by the main evening event which features 2 speakers on crucial subjects for nearly all of us.

We begin with one of our periodic workshop sessions which will focus on property finance and tax. This follows up on the terrific presentation given by Paul Underwood at our July event. On that night, Paul drew on his extensive knowledge and experience of property finance as an accountant in highlighting a number of aspects that could not be addressed thoroughly in the time available. That will be put right in the small group setting of a workshop, with 90 minutes at hand to do so. There will be a limited number of places available, so book your seat now if ,you want to save more of your hard earned cash…! Workshop tickets are just £10, or £5 for Surrey Property Exchange club members.

Our evening programme features a double header of vital subjects for most of us….The Renters Reform Act has had quite a lot of publicity over the past few months and it’s now making its way through the Parliamentary legislation process. Peter Littlewood has been part of the policy making process and he will give us a thorough update on what to expect from the new bill, which will usher in big changes for both tenants and landlords in England and Wales.

HMO and co living landlords around the country have had big concerns over the VOA’s growing campaign with local authorities to impose council tax on a room by room basis for tenants in shared accommodation. Daryn Brewer has been at the centre of a campaign to get this stopped, and the government has taken this up in recent months as a key matter to address. Daryn will return to our event to give us the latest news on what is going to happen in the future, which will affect huge numbers of tenants and landlords.
