How do you sign tenancy agreements these days

I am old fashioned and use paper.  I go through the 12 page document with tenant, allows me to pull out key bits of information, talk them through house (mainly hmo accommodation) and get to know them a little better

I've used Signable for the last couple of Tenancies.

    Hi John

Is that the free option or do you pay monthly?

I was looking at HelloSign too but don't really want to get into a monthly contract with them. I wouldn't mind paying but would prefer one-off costs.

What matters most is will these electronic signatures stand up in court when for example you issue a section 21 notice and the judge sees a copy of the gas cert without an ink signature.
Tessa shepperson recommends signed copies of the gas safety record and also signed proof that you issued the gas safety record to the tennant before the tennant moved in. See caridon property ltd v monty shooltz  nov 2018. The section 21 notice was thrown out. Has anyone put e signatures to the test in court ?.

They are according to the gov site I linked to earlier and OpenRent - How can I trust a digital signature?

But yes would be good to hear from any real life cases

I read something recently on another site where a LL was trying to work with the council/UC and were told they don't accept electronic signatures and that the LL had to issue a new contract to be manually signed. The OP explained that electronic signatures are legal and sent them the link but the authority wouldn't budge. Nor were they interested in contributing to the cost of creating a new AST.
