how to find out the price of a property

    dear all,

I am planning to buy a business whose assets includes a property. I have been given a figure for the freehold but I am trying to find out how much the property was bought for in the first place. I cannot find any details of the property on zoopla or rightmove. where else can i go to find the price a property was purchased for? I just want to make sure I do not pay over the odds for the freehold. Thanks.

Go to the official Land Registry site and for a £3 fee you can download official office copies .If they do not show the last purchase price then it is because it was purchased in a period ( eg the 1980's) when p/prices were not recorded

Even if it includes the freehold, find out whether any leaseholds have been created - this in effect "carves out" part of the value of the freehold.
