Is there something wrong with the UK ?

    Yes the UK is screwed.

A bit more tax and poor parking ticket signage.

Things are much better in Syria.

Yep, we’re a country that produces too little profit but wants the best of everything, then we want to gold plate things, climate change act, smart meters, susidising non jobs/ businesses. An illusion of wealth based on ever growing gdp but ignoring the per capita numbers.

huge number so of people written off and left to their lives of drugs and drink. But no one wants to have an open honest debate on the direction of travel.

Personally i see no point in striving to earn more than i need , the thought of entering  the 40% tax bracket is enough to make me take more time doing stuff i enjoy. But i have no kids, my partners are grown up and independent, our mortgages are paid and we have simple tastes.

The next big hiccup for society will be in around 10 years, when there will be no cheap easy to run bangers available (that are legal), car ownership will be beyond the reach of huge numbers of people. The whole gammet of emission control equipment, parts being coded to the vehicle and as a result fewer pattern parts, will price ,any off the roads.

Unlikely there will be the investment in public transport to take the strain and electric vehicles will need huge steps forward and cost reductions to fill the void.

we’ll end up divided as those who can afford new cars on pcp deals, those that gamble on 3-6 year old cars and those that buy something 6+ and have no chance of being able to repair it.

It’ll be very interesting to see how things look in 25 years, a hard left government is pretty much a dead cert at some point, as people start to realise that for ever greater numbers improving their lot is going to be next to impossible. BTL was one way forward its been much curtailed and will be more so over the next few years.
