Report says private renting unfair to tenants

Interesting on PRS condition - said to be worse than SRS/OO

EHS 2016/17 says polar opposite with more PRS tenants being satisfied with their housing vs SRS!

Another case of finding the appropriate statistics to validate an argument. It seems to be popular nowadays.

It really does beg the question who they invite to these 'focus groups'?

The PRS may not be perfect, but it provides a broad selection of property types in most towns in the UK, starting at shared accommodation and moving up to larger houses, at rents determined by the basic economic laws of demand and supply. For the report to suggest the UK rental sector is 'broken' seems absurd; it's actually done a pretty good job at filling the void left by the reduction in home ownership.

As a caveat - despite the reduction in percentage home ownership - down from peak 71% in 2003 to 63% today - in absolute terms there are slightly more homeowners today than in 2003.

Newly formed households since 2003 have been forced to rent in most cases due to lack of affordability.
