Time to remove the positive/negative vote?

Does it really serve any useful purpose on the forum to be able to vote up or down someones reply on the forum?

Looking through various posts there's been some very useful posts that for some reason has been down-voted.

If there's a post that's distasteful then I'm sure someone will notify admin about it.

    Case in point: https://www.propertytribes.com/letting-t...38549.html
Perfectly legitimate question, with 1x up vote and 2x down votes for some unknown reason?

    Any thoughts?

I like the feature to be honest.

I often make statements that go against the tide (pro regulation, anti leverage etc etc) and the feature allows me to see where some of the less vocal landlords stand, it's often quite surprising.

In that post, the up vote might have been for thinking outside the box or trying to help refugees who might not find it easy to source housing.

The down vote could have been either due to dismay for wanting to seek premium to profit further from vulnerable people needing housing or dismay due to high immigration to this country or cynisim towards the word refugee or why not our vetrans getting that housing etc.

    Who knows!

Going back to your question, the feature might save someone from replying only to state what is already stated. If someone gives an answer to a question, 5 people up voting gives an indication to the original poster of the number of landlords sharing the same opinion.

I do not see any use for the down vote. I like positive environment. As you say, a distasteful post can be reported to admin for removal etc.

I down voted the OP as my childish sense of humour got the better of me!
