Just noticed that 2 adjoining cottages in the centre of Ashton-under-Lyne are up for auction tomorrow with a guide price of £55 to £65k
The auction is tomorrow unfortunately. The need renovation of course. There is a conservation area close by. I don't know if these would be included but I wouldn't be surprised.
I imagine they will be guided very low to attract interest and will actually sell for a LOT more!Do let us know if you find out what they finally sell for. See this thread - Where is the cheapest house in England?

Sold for £90,500
Nice old building but looks as if you could spend the same again on each to refurb!
Perfect prop to put into a action though! I think someone could easily lose money on this esp if goes a lot higher....
Good luck to whoever buys it tho!
It looks like a big job Peter! I've noticed on some of the other threads you predominantly look for investments around Stalybridge (I lived on Cheetham Hill Road for most of my life before moving here to Romiley) and I've got some viewings next week. Have you seen the apartment for sale on High Street? What do you think of that one? I tried to private message you but I'm in my 'probation period' >.<
I invest across Tameside, though I know Ashton (where I grew up) and Stalybridge (where I now live) best. I've seen the apartment advertised but I am only buying houses so haven't looked at it. I have driven past it. I think the areas is OK.
Thanks Pete, I've sent you a LinkedIn connection request, I hope you don't mind - it would be good to stay in touch with someone else local.
Do you think it could achieve £550 PCM in your experience given its location? I have a viewing arranged next week for it. It looks in need of a light refurb but nothing major by the looks of it!
They were being sold as residential. That was proably the original purpose, though they may have been used as shops at one time. There are quite a lot of empty shops around there. The main shopping area has move a little to the north. Being where they are residential is probably a better idea.
I was in Ashton this week and took the 30 yard walk to look at this property. The condition isn't good but they have 3 floors. So the higher price seems justified,
