A royal Patron of a landlord association?

We all know the Royal Family are huge Landlords and rent a lot of property

It would be great if a member of the Windsor household become a Patron of one of the Landlord Associations

Just think of how much credibility it would give to our sector !

What do you think of the chance of having a HRH opening a Landlord show ?

I can see it now ...  Lord Mayors show with an NLA float ...

I don't think it would ever happen because we are such a political sector NOW.

Who are they anyway?  Are they something special?

Prince Charles owns the Poundbury estate in Dorset, which is essentially a new town with houses, shops, doctor's surgery, commercial premises etc.  Dorset Cereals are based there for instance.

He would be the most likely patron of landlords, but I can't see it happening.  Ever.  It's a too politically hot potato where political correctness abounds, and the Royals would not wish to get involved.

I would agree with you Fairy Godmother

It would never happen, but it proves we are in a sector which is not liked and cannot be supported by the Royal Family

There is an underling hate for our sector

But the question is - why is it disliked ???

My guess is Historic Reputation which goes back a very long time

But the great and the good still invest in property ???? I can't quite close the circle on that one .

My personal view is the royal family would be trying to keep it as quiet as possible that they are landlords from the public.

Might make people question why such assets are exempt from inheritance tax for them but an increasing number of perosnal homes are caught for those paying their upkeep.

Great idea, write to them requesting this, see what they say   ;-)

I also get rather annoyed that we pay for the upkeep of their houses, when we could spend it on the NHS or homelessness.

Most of what is reported to be owned by the various bits of the royal family is actually owned by the Crown Estate (property of the people since George III gave it in 1760 to the state in return for pay-off of debts and annual "grant"... ), the Duchy of Lancaster (profits go to the Duke { yes..., Duke...} of Lancaster, the Queen ) or the Duchy of Cornwall (profits go to Duke of Cornwall, big ears..) etc etc etc....  e.g. Poundbury and Highgrove are owned by the Duchy.

Charlie pays rent for Highgrove (ie he's a tenant so could be a patron of a tenant's association..) - after complaints he paid nothing - but since he gets the profits he gets most of the rent back.

Queen and charlie only pay tax voluntarily...

My youngest son has significant dealings with one the the members in his job ... I dunno, you bring them up decent and what do they do??

I think there is more chance of a Royal becoming a Patron of Shelter then the NLA

    how ironic would that be

The Duke of Cambridge is already a patron for The Passage - they provide housing for the homeless so are landlords as well as a charity.
