    Admin fee

    How is admin fee taxed?

Payments covered by admin fee for credit checking, ink, paper, referencing and inventories are already added as expenses on a tax return so if you charge a tenant say: £75 to cover all of those things - where does that figure come into play with regard to a tax return?

Also - can you charge admin fee for your time? i.e if you charge £100 but only £50 of that is used for referencing, ink etc would the extra £50 fall under income?

I hope that makes sense! - thanks

if it's a fee you charge tenants / prospective tenants, it's income.  Any actual costs can be deducted, but in your example the remaining £50 will be taxable profit.
