  • HMO & Multi-Lets

    Birmingham HMO Joint Venture

    Hi all,

    I am 26 live and work in Birmingham, and am looking to get into property investment . I have my own property bought this summer and no others. I have £40k cash to invest.

    I have been reading the forums here, multiple books and watching all kinds of videos so I believe I have an idea of the realistic options open to me given my budget, experience and spare time (evenings and weekends only)

    The proposition I have and am looking for feedback on is;

    A joint venture between myself and somebody with HMO experience to professionals in Birmingham. I lived in one for a year so understand the positives and challenges of these first hand from a practical perspective.

    I would want to go c50% each on the financing and potential refurb. The other party would hopefully add experience around financing structure, running and managing, its possible I could live there in the short term to help the start up of bringing in tenants etc.

    I have looked an Jim Haliburton and Platinum property partners but they want c£60k-£80k to start which will take me a while longer to achieve.

    My aim is to get the experience and cashflow from this to repeat again.

    I would be interested to hear people’s thoughts on this and if anyone is interested obviously would love to hear from you.

    Ollie,

    I am a small time landlord/investor from Stourbridge looking to expand into HMO for professionals. I don't have HMO specific experience but as a businessman and landlord for over 10 years I might be able to add value. If you want to have a chat sometime let me know. I've only just joined however (and am apparently on probation!) so not exact sure how we facilitate that...

    Hi Marcus,

    Interesting, I will drop you a message with my details. I am speaking with a broker at the weekend so will have a really good idea what my options look like then.

    Keen to understand your vision and how we could potentially put a joint venture together.

    Thanks

    Ollie
