    Buying property using lease options

    Hello,

Does anyone have any experience of buying property using lease options/rent to buy.

This method seems to be promoted by various property gurus at the moment so I'm curious to know if anyone has acquired property this way.

I attended a workshop a few months ago by Vincent Wong of Wealth Dragons who claims to be the pioneer of lease options in the UK, The Netherlands and Malaysia who vouches by this and has successfully built a sizable portfolio (also buying at 25% BMV).

The gurus always make it sound so straightforward.

    Hi John,

This question was asked very recently, so I am directing you to this thread:

Are all property education courses a scam?

Bottom line:  Don't be seduced into buying a ticket to see a unicorn ....

I think you will find that Ben Rogers was the previous Lease Option guru and his mentor Rick Otton was the global lease option guru

Ben managed to blag £1.9 million out of people just like you before he went bankrupt.

Rick Otton has recently been fined $18 million.

Mr Wong may well be wonderful.  But as a business strategy, lease options and rent to rent and rent to buy  usually make the guru rich, and their disciples very poor.

Lease Options are a commonly used tool when buying commercial property and are generally accepted as normal practice.

What frightens me is how quickly the havoc wrought by shysters like Ben and Rick is forgotten,  and new unsuspecting lambs skip merrily to their financial slaughter.

Lease Options are a load of old cobblers.

Genuine investors have a straight choice of how to proceed in Property Investment.

Choice 1: Work hard, be frugal and save up money to buy a house.

    Choice 2: Don't buy a house.

Any other choice presented by a guru will be a lie.

Would you agree to sell your house at today’s price but be paid in 4-5 years?

Only the owner of an absolutely rubbish house that won’t sell any other way will enter into such a deal.
