Can any solicitor fees be allowable expenses

Can anyone please clarify is any solicitor based fees are allowable as self assessment expenses ? I have previously just filled them away for CGT calculations in the future, however I was wondering of the various fees such as Land Reg and Search fees could actually be claimed ?

I'm suspecting not, but views very welcome. Thanks.

All elements of the solicitor fees connected with arranging finance or refinance can be apportioned to letting expenses but are subject to SEC 24.

Therefore if arranging a mortgage or remortgage on a property you already own it is likely the solicitor fees are allowable.

If arranging a purchase with a mortgage you can ask solicitor to proportion costs to show charge related to mortgage, or do yourself

If arranging purchase with no mortgage all costs are capital

Thanks for the reply. Yes, all for the current SA tax year 16-17 are for purchases with mortgages.
