    Can you afford not to have a pension ?

    We all know the Major tax issues that lie ahead of individual Property investors  and I am sure as one of my fellow bloggers has said its been a slap in the face for most of us

    But we do not need to role over and die

    As an Ex IFA I have always known the Power of Pension Planning and now with the big changes in pensions I think it would be a wise move for all to visit Pension planning again

    I know some of us are now investing via a Company and if you are Pensions for Director's are a gift horse to withdraw profits in a tax efficient way

    But If you take the Time to look at the link below you will see other reasons to us your Pension as a Trust to pass down wealth to the next generations  avoiding IHT

    I am not qualified to give advice But if you would like advice it would be worth a chat with and IFA who can point you to the pros and cons of having a Pension

    Its nice to know we can Plan with the help of the HMRC where pensions are concerned

    Another point worth noting is that self-invested pensions (SIPPs and SASSs) can buy commercial property and can borrow back 50% of their own money.  FYI, a block of flats with five units under the one title is classed as residential, whereas a block with six or more units under the one title is commercial.

    And if they are different titles, presumably they are all residential (even if bought in a single transaction)?
