    Concern About Boiler in Bedroom

Hi Guys, I have a couple of properties where a new boiler has been installed in the bedrom (one was installed a year ago and the other within the last 5 years). A year ago a new boiler was installed in a bedroom where a 15-year old sleeps.  Even though there is a monoxide detector in the room (on top of the boiler) I was wondering what additional safety measure I can take to ensure her safety as I'm very concerned about the possibility of a gas leak.  Your advice would be much appreciated.

    I think this is illegal.

But I hope that a gas engineer on here will confirm this.

It is legal. British Gas did it in several of my properties last year

The last Labour government threw millions at a grant to fit gas boilers in older properties for people on benefits.  In many cases the only place they could put it was a bedroom or bathroom.

The companies fitting them did not give a toss about where they went or what they looked like. There are some really horrible ugly installations around that have ruined how a bedroom looks but they are legal.

As soon as they reach the end of their lives relocate the new boilers. In the meantime ensure you have sealed battery or mains Co alarms in the rooms, make sure that the windows have fixed trickle vents and If possible wall vents. I won't touch a property that has a boiler in a bedroom or in some places the lounge!

Why there’s no issues with them in bedrooms? Got 3/4 in bedroom cupboards don’t get what issue is

Modern boilers are classed by Gas Safe as "room sealed", this means they contain features which prevent the exit of gases/fumes into a room. Provided the boiler is modern and has been fitted by a gas safe registered fitter ( which you would expect as its a legal requirement) it is both safe and legal.

I am very surprised if this is legal. In a bathroom fair enough, but I would never put a boiler in a bedroom.

On what basis and professional qualification do you make such an assertion?
