    Council tax expenditure

I have a building with some studios in it. My husband has always paid the council flat for each flat because then it could be off set against tax etc. The rent and contract then reflected this.

However Hackney council are now saying that the tenant has to pay the council tax themselves and that I need to them readjust the rent accordingly.

However if if this is the case I can’t offset the council tax against tax  then can I?

    any thoughts?

If the flats fall to each be individual dwellings then, except in some odd cases, the occupier is the one liable for the council tax charge as per legislation.
