    Deposit payment

    Hi Tribe

I got tenant who has left the country due to heavy debts. They did not pay 2 months rent and now I have raised the claim on the full deposit. It's been a week and tenant has not responded. It seems they won't respond.

I.undesrabd from reading, I need to fill up some form thorough solicitor , not sure where to get it from and what is involved here.  Deposit is protected with DPS.

Is it possible to find the form on line or I need to go to DPS.

    Regards

    MB.

Contact the DPS and they will advise you what to do next, and send you the form to complete.  You may have a long wait until you get the money, particularly when the tenant is not responding.

I used the DPS back in 2007 but at that time they were taking too long, in my opinion, to respond to tenants who would then contact me complaining.  I moved to MyDeposits and can now return the deposit quickly, much better all round.

I agree I too have all my deposits with MyDeposits and use the insurance scheme to enable more control .

I believe the form is obtained from DPS. You then take it to a solicitor to swear it as you are making a statutory declaration.

Not sure of the waiting period though before you can make the declaration so as to have the money paid out
