    Disillusioned with Nat. Landlords Association

I am becoming extremely disillusioned with the National Landlords' Association (NLA): bureaucratic, useless staff and advice line, useless website, zero connection between membership and local reps, increasingly politically correct and establishment-oriented.

Should I join the RLA instead? From what I have seen their information looks more accessible and they appear to be more on the side of their members.  Do other people have any impressions they could share?

    Best wishes,

    Silver Bear

It appears the RLA is the association of choice in PT but I have no experience with them. As an NLA member I don't get involved in their politics but use the advice line often.

    Hi Pete

I'm afraid I have found their advice line amateurish in the extreme. ...

    Best wishes,

You may get an ameteurish view as a one off whichever you go with but maybe it was more than once?.....

If you do go with the RLA I'd be interested to hear if you have a better experience

Hi Aidan and welcome to the tribe.

I always advocate being a member of more than one landlord association.  I am a member of the Residential Landlords Association and iHowz.

We currently have two discounted offers for those associations, so click on the above links to get 25% off membership.

This video may be of interest to you - it is a debate between the RLA, NLA, and Property Tribes:

We also have this video which gives an insight into the work of the RLA:

How many CBI's exist to represent big business

    Ohh!!! Yes................one! !!

When Govt wants to engage with big business the CBI is the first port of call

When the Govt wishes to engage with small business who does it tend to engage with??

    The FSB

How many FSBs are there?..............Ohh! Yes .....one.

When the Govt wishes to engage with the PRS how many LL associations  are there! ?

I have no idea; but more than one is one too many.

When will the PRS recognise that ONE LL Association  is needed.

So first off combine the NLA and the RLA to be the NRLA and invite other LL associations to amalgamate  or affiliate.

This so we end up with ONE LL association.

Then LL will have one far more powerful voice which consists so far as very small squeaks!!!

Which is why private LL are effectively ignored by Govt.

Somehow the 2 million LL need to become full members of ONE LL association.

The chances of that happening is zero.

Attempting to organise LL is akin to attempting to herd cats.

It will NEVER happen which is why LL will ALWAYS be divided enabling Govt to completely control EVERYTHING  that goes on in the PRS.

Until LL choose to get their act together the Govt will contime to ride roughshod over private LL.

So LL carry on getting used to being battered and bruised  by those Govt horses! !!!!

I've been a member of the NLA for the past 5 years and I have no complaints at all.

They are very professional and the Advice Line has been absolutely brilliant for me - I would have been lost without it at times.
