Do you buy second hand white goods?

Just wondering if landlords buy second hand fridges / washing machines etc or buy new

Always buy new. Time and effort to find second hand items just not worth it.  also fortunate to have the Hotpoint / Indesit graded shop nearby!

I always buy new white goods. It actually works out cheaper in cost and time. The tenant appreciates and respects a landlord more if they supply them with good quality new appliances instead of fobbing them off with someone else's cast offs.

New. Saves the cost of getting a certificate for the second hand appliance.

Mostly new, but I have a lot of storage space now as well as a large van so I do browse ebay etc adding search criterea "guarantee".  Several times I have bought items which are only a few months old for about half price.  I only bother with white goods that come with their original receipt and are still under a year old though.

Dont supply white goods unless you really have to. There is no legal requirement for you to do so. When a  tenant leaves sometimes they leave there old washing machine or fridge as they cant be bothered to take it, if the appliances are useable then i will offer to gift them to the new tenants if they want them, this way if they go wrong it is not my responsibility to replace them.

Always new:  Should there be a problem (fire/flood, someone hurt or insurance claim..) don't want to find insurance payout refused or myself under scrutiny in court/local papers as a cheapskate, corner cutting scr*at.  It ain't worth the risk
