Emergency housing - anybody supplying it?

    Hi all

I have read in numerous publications that the demand for emergency housing is increasing.

I am currently looking at an old commercial building to purchase with lots of potential for multi unit living with communal space. I have spoken with the local council who seem keen but would not commit until i actually own the building.

I have experience with mixed use properties and commercial space but this would be a new venture into the unknown!!

Would be interested to hear if anybody has any  experience?

    Thanks

    Paul

When I asked my council this question about 10 years ago I received a curt response saying they were not interested in `short term housing solutions`. It was a bit rich I thought coming from them as they were shipping people up to 50 miles out of town into B&B`s and low grade hotels at massive expense to the taxpayer and bringing about a stressful upsetting disruption to 100`s of young  families .

I was looking to alleviate their housing problems and at the same time making myself a buck or two .  Councils I find do not like the private sector and pay lip service in saying they want to work closer with them. So hopefully your council is more genuine but I would leave myself ( and no doubt you will have ) with lots of other options  because they may appear keen yes now but that keenness may well  fade right away when you ask for that concrete commitment after  completion and conversion
