Fergus Wilson has been involved in a defamation case against an internet blogger and also attempted to bankrupt him.Fergus stated on Property118 that he had won a judgment against the individual for £50K, but it would seem that was a rather pre-mature claim. It's quite a complex case and it is probably easiest just to read the blog in question to find out how it evolved:On being sued by Fergus Wilson This week, the blogger announced that the case had been thrown out by the court and that Fergus has to pay his costs:"A few weeks ago I reported on Fergus Wilson’s attempt to bankrupt me over my reporting on this blog. Today the County Court at Canterbury heard my application to set his demands aside.
Despite Wilson being represented by a barrister, the court upheld my application, and ordered him to pay my costs. For now at least his attempts to bankrupt me are at an end".Source This is the second time Fergus has failed to shut down internet commentary about him.Last year he sued YouTuber Danny Hyde for making a video that was critical of his policy of excluding people of Asian origin from his houses: a policy that was overruled by the courts. That court case also failed.SEE ALSO - Fergus Wilson - "bell-wether" for landlords?UP NEXT - Fergus courting headlines: Help or hindrance?DON'T MISS - How to improve the public image of landlords?NOW WATCH:

Excellent post, excellent courts, excellent news.
Fergus Wilson has contacted me saying that this story is incorrect and has asked me to post his response as follows:I have not been involved in a Defamation Case against an internet blogger. That is incorrect! The case I issued was not for Defamation. The case I brought was for the recovery of expenses incurred in relation to what turned out to be an unfounded allegation that I was not qualified to stand as a Police and Crime Commissioner in 2016. It was not for Defamation.
It was not thrown out. The Judge said re-issue! The Defendant said very simply he never received the paperwork and in such circumstances the Court always sets it aside. At the Judge’s suggestion the Claim will be reissued. In due course a transcript will arrive.Further, I do intend to issue, quite separately, a Claim Defamation in the near future.Neither case has anything to do with either Property or Letting! As far as Danny Hyde was concerned I became quite friendly with him as you will see if you view his later videos.I was quite prepared to fund him if he moderated his language! Rant all you like but remember children might be watching! Watch the naughty words.
However, his legal advisors went ahead and so I did not fund his channel which is a pity really.
I do send Danny bits and pieces and will be sending him another Harrods Hamper this Christmas.Fergus Wilson
I watched a couple of interviews with Fergus Wilson and In particular the BBC Panorama programme.
The editing of the programme is done in such a way as to give the impression that everything he says is simplistic, arrogant and implying he is of limited intelligence. He is clearly unable to cope with the demands of managing properties and is wisely exiting the market. He feels anger and frustration at the increasing demands and shows this by making antagonistic remarks to shock people around. He is goaded by presenters, so he reacts badly and reinforces this idea in some people’s mind he is a pugnacious fool.
It is unfortunate that for Landlords he is not a role model and those who wish to blame landlords invite him on to their programme so he can make a fool of himself. In a sense seeking to make entertainment by poking fun at his limited abilities, it is painful to watch and as I said previously is similar to Victorians going to the asylum for entertainment
His strengths was in buying the properties and building that side of the business up along with his wife - and this side of him is not given the credit it should be.
