Free energy up-grades for qualifying rentals

This is a sponsored communication on behalf of Upgrade and Save.

Upgrade and Save work on the Government ECO scheme fitting heating and insulation measures in properties where  the tenants are on qualifying benefits.

A good deal and a new pot of funding (available from March 2019) has come up for landlords who have electric portable or panel heaters whereby Upgrade and Save can update these inefficient systems with the latest high heat retention storage heaters.

To be able to qualify for this there are 2 separate criteria:

    1. The tenant has to be on one of a long list of benefits including Universal credit, Disability Living Allowance, carers allowance, child benefit, child tax credit, pension credit, carers Allowance, PIP etc etc
    2. If the local council work on the "Flex scheme", they could qualify on this.

It is likely that most of these properties will be flats of some description. The property has to be a minimum of E rated EPC but, if not, Upgrade and Save have other government funding to install internal wall insulation which will bring them up to a minimum E rating.

Changing to High Heat Retention heaters not only lowers the tenant's electricity bill but increases the EPC rating of the property.

For further details or to find out if your tenants/properties qualify:

So a Tenant earning say £50,000 pa but claiming Child Ben is eligible?

Is this one of the schemes where say a new Gas Boiler is fitted for nil cash upfront - but repaid as a charge on fuel bill over future years?

I am afraid you will have to contact the advertiser to get those answers.

The standard ECO scheme has been extended to cover more benefits - https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-pr...-your-home. Child Benefit has a cap on salary so if you earn £50K you won't get ECO funding.

It would be helpful if the advertiser gave the answer on this forum (where they've advertised) to save everyone having to ask.
