    Hi Elsbeth!

My name is Shah and I'm from Tide banking, thank you for showing an interest! Can you clarify what do you mean by client account ? If you are referring to an account where you are holding your client's money then that would classify as third party money, which we cannot do unfortunately. Our members cant use the accounts to hold third party funds.

Hope this answers your question! Do let me know if you have any more query, would be glad to help.

    Hi Vanessa,

The code to apply to the Tide account seems to have disappeared from the PT website - can you confirm what it is? There was nowhere obvious to apply it on signup and I am now trying to get Tide to apply it post signup.

    Cheers

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for supporting PT in this manner.  The code is PROPERTYTRIBES and if you use the link above it will register to our partner account.

I will ask Tide to clarify.

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for showing an interest, we really appreciate it. The link seems to be working fine for me, I have inserted it here again for your reference https://www.tide.co/partners/property-tribes/ . If you are on your phone, you might want to minimise a pop window by pressing the ' - ' on the top right to reveal the form again.

Once you have filled in the form, you will then receive a special link through an SMS on the mobile number you provided. This link will take you to the App/Google store for you to download our app and you should be able start your application!

Hope this clarifies the matter, do let me know if you have anymore questions, would be more than happy to help!

    Kind regards

    Shah

    Hi Shah

I've heard good things about Tide, so great stuff and thanks to PT / Tide for the partnership and offer.

    Couple of queries if I may;

    - As Tide's an epayment service as opposed to a bank where there's FSCS protection, what happens, in the unfortunate case, that Tide goes under? It states that the equivalent funds are safeguarded in a Barclays Bank account. But what happens if Barclays also goes down at the same time? (unlikely but just wondering...)

    - And if I have an existing business account with another institution, do you do the switch guarantee, or do I have to transfer all the funds, direct debits etc. over?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Joseph,

I hope you're well. My name is Rupa and I work for Tide.

Tide is indeed free for everyone to sign up to, as you are not charged any monthly fee and you are not required to have a minimum amount in your account.

We do however charge for the following:

Bank transfers (in or out) - 20p

    Cash withdrawals - £1

Cash deposits (through the Post Office) - £1

Cash deposits (through PayPoint) - 3% of the transaction value

If you decide to sign up using this link: https://www.tide.co/partners/property-tribes/ we will wave all the fees listed for 1 year.

Do let me know if you have any further questions, I'd be happy to assist.

    Kind regards,

    Rupa

*Commercial partner of PropertyTribes Get 1 year of FREE business banking with Tide http://www.tide.co/partners/property-tribes/

    Hi Derek,

My name is Rupa and I am the Partnership Account Manager here at Tide, I'd be happy to help.

In answer to your first question: Your funds are kept in a protected Safeguarding account, meaning that they can never be loaned out to other customers and, as such, are not exposed to risk. In the unlikely event of Tide’s insolvency, the service would continue to run as normal under management of PrePay Solutions/Barclays funds will be available to draw down at all times.

And secondly, unfortunately we do not offer a switching service, but you can use Tide alongside your existing bank account until you have fully switched over. The switching service is something our product team are hoping to launch soon!

Do let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks,

    Rupa

I want to say that starling is a much better businesses bank option then tide...

    1. Starling is a real bank - so your money is protected by the FSCS - which tide isn’t.

    2. Starling is free, for cash withdrawals, for transfers, etc. It’s not a year free. Right now - it’s just free.

    Read the comparisons here:

    https://www.starlingbank.com/business-account/

I don’t know if property tribes is getting some cash-back for for recommending tide - but honestly - starling is the bank I use for my business.

I do use tide - but just for when I go abroad. I don’t think I’d trust £50k etc, in a company that isn’t actually a bank or protected up to the £85k amount.
