Housing endangering Conservatives - the Times

This claim has appeared in the Times.

I was expecting the article to say that the Conservatives were alienating landlords by their onerous tax regime and constant attacks.  However, apparently, the Tories have alienated Generation Rent.

So Tories are not pleasing any demographic when it comes to the housing market?

At the ARLA Conference last week, Housing Minister Heather Wheeler joked that her main claim to fame was that she had survived in the role long enough to make a repeat appearance at the Conference.

Below is a picture of a recent housing debate:

Clearly housing is not important to MPs - absent from this very rare Housing Debate  – despite housing obviously being a major issue for this country!

The Tories are just pleasing themselves.

Did anyone nervously laugh at Heather’s inappropriate joke? Or was the room deadpan. What contempt she showed. Just out for her career.

    I hate all politicians now

they live in  a bubble called Westminster and when it comes to choice there is little between them

I hope the next election comes as shock to labour and the conservatives as they lose seats

but who will be taken the seats my guess is UKIP

and we will end up with the likes of tommy Robinson as an MP

we deserve more from our political friends but we never get it

I think generally with democracy we deserve who we vote for & if we promote Tommy Robinson as an alternative I think it’s clear what we deserve.

It would be ironic if he became a MEP

I have 5 politicians representing my interests in South Wales, 2 Conservative, 1 Labour, 1 UKIP and 1 Independent. From what I understand this system works well.

Well i dont know how they can expect the young to support the party of capitalism when they dont have any capital.

Generation rent are a much larger demographic than landlords and their voices will be listened to.

If the government was not so distracted by the brexit mess over the last two years i think we could have expected the 3% SDLT surplus on second homes to have been increased significantly and maybe total removal of interest relief on mortgages.

None of those policys have built a single new home mind you...
