  • Deposit Protection

How long to claim against a deposit?

What's a reasonable time to have to wait for a claim for rent default against an ex-tenant's deposit? My (now former) agent, who've been useless from the word go, seem to be taking forever.

That kind of depends. A deposit protection scheme is unlikely to look at a a claim that is made more than 3 months after the end of the tenancy unless there are very good reasons indeed for the delay.

OK, but my question was, how long would one expect the entire procedure to take before one flags there are serious issues with the agent concerned.
