How would you find out the big employers?

    Hi guys!

    I hope you are well?

Apart from google maps and zooming into the specific area, is there any other way to find out employers in the area that you are researching?

I tried calling a recruitment agency but they were more interested in asking me about my experience and what roles I would want rather than tell me about the big employers in that chosen area.

Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate!

    Have a lovely weekend everyone,

    Many thanks,

    Adam

    Hi Adam,

How about attending some local business networking meetings or on-line forums for the area you are interested in and asking there?

There are a number of area-specific landlord groups on facebook, so worth asking there as well.

Finally, most counties have a "business generator" unit who encourage business into the area.  That would be a good source of intel as well.

    Hope that helps?

LinkedIn is a good tool to search for employers.  Do a job search in a given location and see which companies are hiring in the area.

Can also do the same on job portals such as monster, jobsite etc

Try typing "economy of X", "large employer X" area into search engines and see what comes up, or check out the council's website. Many businesses are pinned on Google maps too.  I haven't come across anywhere with a definitive list free & online.  If it's for a business purpose, you could purchase a list from companies like Dunn & Bradstreet with whatever spec you want.
