Inventory fee payable in this instance?

    Hi all

I follow the tribe avidly and love all the positive interaction.

I have a question for my daughter at uni that I'm sure someone on PT can help with.

She moved into a flat in July (self contained not shared or HMO). At the time I paid her deposit and a fee for the exit inventory check. She has now received a letter saying this was underpaid. I am happy to help her figure this out but have a more key question.

On the day we went in to collect the keys and pay the deposits the letting office was a shambles. They didn't have any info on the utilities and didn't accompany us to the property and just gave us the keys.

No inventory check was done on that day or since. Given this,  should we be expected to pay any exit inventory fee at all let alone make up an alleged difference? What wound the exit inventory be checked against anyway?

    Thoughts and comments welcomed.

    Peter
