  • Deposit Protection

    Landlord refused to protect deposit unless tenant paid

    Well it seems his attitude is somewhat suspect
    One could forgive him if it was a genuine error on his part in misunderstanding deposit regulations
    One would then expect full deposit refund
    But the mere fact that he is refusing to comprehend what he has done I'd go after him for the full compensation
    Your friend should have a chat with the CAB
    They will assist her in taking action against this dopey LL
    If a gentle word of advice is not effective in persuading him that what he has done is incorrect then legal action with a massive fine is the only way to assist him in the way he manages deposits in the future
    He is making a rod for his own back!!
    This is why I only accept an AST of 6 months and then onto a SPT
    I have never offered an AST longer than 6 months and NEVER will
    If a tenant insists then I advise they will have to pay an admin fee for deposit reregistration

    Not one tenant has ever requested a new AST and I've been doing this since 2007!!!!!
