I have a macerator loo and it's blooming noisy.  My mum has one which is more enclosed and it's less noisy but still not quiet.  I've been warned they pack up after a couple of years and it's a messy  job to sort out.  I wouldn't have one if I didn't have to!

If it's for a flat, don't do it or you'll have constant noise complaints

Thanks! It's for an HMO, and due to the configuration I think the noise thing can be managed.

I've heard they get blocked often; Is this your experience?

Got one in commercial property, retail store not used for customer use only staff and it’s a nightmare usually every year or 2 have issues and as soon as you mention it plumbers are that interested funnily Enough. Sound isn’t issue boxed in and very quiet, but more of a pain to get at it when it does go wrong

Yes, have a handful of these and I agree with previous posters on noise and reliability.

The noise you can deal with by using sound insulation boards. The reliability really depends on how it is used and what's flushed down them. Use only if you have no other choice
