MIR on Self Catering Holiday Let

I've possibly missed this one somewhere?

Is full Mortgage Interest Relief available on a Self Catering Holiday Let or does it fall under S24 (The 140 day type, not the 210 day FHL)?

You seem to be confused over the Furnished Holiday Let Rules.  The year, the 140 day rule applied to Furnished Holiday lets up to and and including 2011-12 after that it became 210 days.  There are not two types of letting rules.

S24 does not apply to FHL and it also does not apply to Serviced Accomodation.  I would guess that you question really related to this.

    Regards

    Nigel

Thanks for the reply Nigel, these little jobbies...

Second homes, holiday homes, etc., not FHLs nor Serviced Accommodation.

They qualify for business rates but do they fall under S24 for income?

    Hi Gary

The information you are looking at relates to Rates rather than the tax treatment of Furnished Holiday Lets.  Unfortunately as in so many areas of Government different departments start using the same criteria for applying reliefs but then get out of step with one another.  The best place to look for information on HMRC's guidance is in their manuals.  Have a look at the following for FHL:

Thanks again Nigel, I'm familiar with PIM4100.

There is no reference to second homes that qualify for business rates within the rest of the manual (that I can find).
