Prefab properties for BTL - do they work?

Hi all I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any dealings with prefabs( its a bungalow really)?

I have been offered one in my area this one has been bricked round externally new windows and a new roof and I assume this was all correctly as its one of many in the area,

I understand it has had a survey done to check for asbestos and is clear, it has been up for sale but no one can get a mortgage on it as it is non standard construction, I assume one of the reasons will be the internal walls and lack of insulation but don't know, as I said I am wondering if anyone has looked at these or been offered one  ?? its certainly rentable and very tidy.

We looked at one recently in Crawley, without the outer brick, and basicaly mortgage advisor said no chance of getting a mortgage. We said we would brick it outside and he said maybe but do you want to take the risk.

    We didn't buy it.

Hi Derek, yes its a risk, would be nice to know what the surveyor is worried about !! you could make a decision on what to do especially when its a bargain !!!! but thanks for the info.

i bought a steel framed building years again Wales. It is also non standard construction, and I paid cash for it by mortgaging another property. I have had no problems and have a good tenant. If I sell it, I will do so with the tenant in situ.
