    Rating discussions or contributions?

On some other sites it is possible for the community (the Tribe on this site) to rate a discussion, rate individual contributions or otherwise show what the community thinks is the most important information that has been shared.
Does Ning (free or fee based) have any way to do something similar?
What made me think of it is a post by Vanessa that covered managing agents. I think the advice contained in the thread is useful and should somehow be called out as helpful for new members of the Tribe. People who will arrive many months later and therefore the conversation will be old.
I do not like the idea that people just throw down a quick comment so the thread pops to the top of the active list. Activity is not a good indicator of value.
In addition when specific people offer something useful then a small reward if helpful. Over time you get to know who the community rates highly based on their 'points' or recommendations.

Also happy to chat on the phone. Pay It Forward; my way of giving back through sharing. Click on the link: PropertyFortress.com/Ask-John to book a time. I will call you at the time you selected. Nothing to buy. Just be prepared with your questions so we can use the 20 minutes wisely.

No they don't offer such a service and yes it would be good if they did, I agree.

Nick and I have just decided to create a new Category called "Must Read Threads - the Best of Property Tribes". If anyone thinks something rates being put in there, please request it and we will change it to that category. Only Tribal Members can control what goes into that Category, so please request any you think worthy of the accolade.

That's a shame, although it might be easier said than enacted as what constitutes good can be very subjective.
The most commonly used rating system I have come across is where posters are allowed to rate a thread using stars i.e., zero to five stars.
Would it be worth adding a sticky or forum titled 'Best Threads' or suchlike? Is that even possible?
