    Recommended reading

    Evening all ,

I’m hoping you good folks may make some recommendations for good reads . It was reading books such as rich dad that gave me the fuel to get started, I’m now on my way but feeling a little bit at a loss with my current career outside of property and hoping to find some inspiration from the written word.

I've had a good look through the recommended PT lists but wondered if there was anything more recent that people may have come across .

if anyone could suggest any good reads that may help to spark some inspiration it would be most appreciated .

For those who do not know, the PT reading list is here:

The Property Tribes Essential Book and Reading List

Inspiration can come from podcasts, films, books, webinars, talking to people .... but each of us has preferences as to how we assimilate information.

I recently read a book called "The Salt Path" which is a true story of a woman who's husband is diagnosed with a terminal disease and they lose their house and livelihood through a bad investment at the same time.  They decide to walk the South West Coast path - 630 miles.

Although not directly about property, there is a big element of what it is like to be homeless and to lose everything you worked for in life and it is also about the strength of the human spirit and how it can recover from massive curveballs.  I got a lot from the book and found it very inspirational.

I also highly recommend the film  "The Pursuit of Happyness", another true story.  It is the story of a man who sinks as low as you can go, but still manages to fight back and become hugely successful in business.  It is another shining example of the strength of the human spirit.

I like Rob Moore's Disruptive Entrepreneur podcasts, he can be a bit shouty and sometimes swears but his content is good and covers a wide range of topics ie property, investing, money management, team building, social media, how to stop procrastinating, how to think more creatively.  He also interviews people who have done well in their field (not just property).  I haven't had a chance to listen to Mark Homer's Mark My Words podcast which is much more focused on finance, but it's on my list.

If you suffer from procrastination, Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy was a quick, easy read.

I subscribe to Your Property Network magazine (£7.95pm) which covers all the different strategies in property and has case studies, interviews, checklists etc.  There is also Residential Property Investor mag and Property Investor News mag.

I'm on lots of property email lists, the ones that cover a broad range include: Property Secrets, RLA, Property Geek (Rob Dix), Property Box News, Peter Jones (not the shop!), nethouseprices, propertychecklists.co.uk (Kate Faulkner), justdoproperty (Julie Hanson), Fixflo (lots of free guides),  Property Hawk, Property Wire and I'm sure there are some more.   And there are emails and podcasts from The Property Voice (Richard Brown).

If you're at the beginning of your journey you could check out Tony Law's Your First Four Houses on YouTube, short videos with helpful info.

I think if you can keep your list broad you won't get bored or overwhelmed so quickly.

    Have fun!
